Bundeena

A picturesque town on the edge of the beautiful Royal National Park, Bundeena will charm you with gorgeous beaches, spectacular bushwalks and wonderful art. You’ll be intrigue by ancient Aboriginal rock carvings, and you can hire a kayak and paddle into one of the oldest national parks in the world.

Ideal for a day trip or short break, getting to Bundeena in southern Sydney is easy. You can take a train from Central Station to Cronulla for a ferry across sparkling Port Hacking to Bundeena – the entire trip is only 90 minutes. The drive from the city centre or Parramatta is about 70 minutes.

The idyllic waters around Bundeena and the Deeban Spit in nearby Maianbar are perfect for fishing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding - Bundeena Kayaks offers various tours. Lovely sandy beaches in Bundeena and the national park are Hordens, Gunyah, Jibbon, Shelley and secluded Marley.

Bring your bushwalking shoes too, as there are more than 100km of walking trails. Forest path is an easy 4.4km loop through enchanting rainforest, home to a colourful range of birdlife. Another delightful walk is to Jibbon Head for magnificent views of sandstone cliffs and the vast Pacific Ocean.

Aboriginal rock engravings at Jibbon Head include depictions of Gawura the great whale and Baiame the sky spirit. Sydney Coast Walks offers a guided tour of this extraordinary indigenous heritage. For a multi-day adventure, the 26km Coast Track in the national park begins in Bundeena.
